Years of experience

Founded in 1978, Aquarius is well regarded within the local community, and has received national awards for teaching from both Swim England and the Royal Life Saving Society.

Swimming closed from Monday 23 March

We’ve decided to stop swimming lessons from Monday 23 March, in the light of government guidance around avoiding ‘unnecessary social contact’ to help slow the spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus).

The last swimming lesson of the current term will be on Sunday 22 March at Moor House.

We’re sorry for the short notice, but the situation is evolving fast and we felt we had to take a quick decision. We believe it’s the right one.

Credits will be applied against next term, and we’ll keep in touch about when we expect lessons to resume.

Please read our blog for more details.

About us

Aquarius Swimming operates in the Tandridge area of Surrey, at venues in Caterham, Warlingham and Oxted.

Aquarius focuses on the development of the individual as an all-round swimmer. We encourage participation in nationally recognised programmes of awards and badges, enabling swimmers and their parents to track their progress.

Once basic swimming skills have been developed, we keep swimmers interested by introducing activities like water polo, early diving skills and life-saving, as well as swimming for fitness.

In addition, we are very pleased to be able to support the Tandridge Aquarius Swimming Squad (TASS).

We’re pleased to say that swimmers stay with Aquarius for many years. Most of our teachers learned to swim with us as children, and many former pupils bring their own children to us for lessons.

From January 2009 we adopted the Swim England National Plan for Teaching Swimming. Read our NPTS parental guide. In 2012 we adopted the RLSS Survive and Save Programme.

Notices and news

Swimming closed from Monday 23 March

Dear Swimmers / Parents / Carers and friends Sadly we have needed to make the decision to stop all swimming lessons from Monday 23rd March. We are coming under some pressure to decide on a day to close down swimming under the heading of ‘no unnecessary social contact’...

New babies and toddlers swimming classes

Currently we have two opportunities during the week during term time for adults to come along with their babies and toddlers for swimming lessons. Starting from November 2018, we're adding Saturday mornings. Saturday Oakhyrst Grange School, Stanstead Road Caterham....

Still Water exams

Teachers Charlotte, Cathy and Kate took 22 swimmers to Southwater, West Sussex to join the Surrey RLSS in a day of swimming in the cold murky waters of the boating lakes. We very much admired the hard work and stoicism of our swimmers who despite the cold environment...

BEACH WEEKEND, Eastbourne, Summer 2018

We all really enjoyed our beach weekend at Eastbourne. Families stayed down booking into a local hotel so a genuinely social and hard working weekend was enjoyed by all who attended. Our swimmers Maria Alongi, Caris Carpenter, Alex Jones and Erin Mullins were Aquarius...

My boys love swimming with Aquarius! My oldest started as an absolute beginner, petrified of swimming, he’s doing lifesaving now. I highly recommend them. They’re brilliant.

Mary

Brilliant swimming club! Lisa is fantastic with my children, I highly recommend.

Anna

Thank you to you all, the standard of teaching is second to none and each and every individual involved in this club needs to be very proud of themselves.

Jo

So pleased with the persistence and patience of the teachers at Warlingham pool. My 6 year old has confidence in the water and enjoys going to class each week!

Karrie

We just returned from our first class and it was absolutely fantastic! The children really enjoyed it, despite being very nervous to try somewhere new. I’d love to sign them up for the term.

Maxine

As I have said, James’ swimming has improved so much in the last year, but more so his enjoyment which as much as anything has made it worth the while taking him. Thank you for this.

May

I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the teachers, they were so good with the children. In particular, Lisa was lovely with Robin while she was assessing if the classes would be suitable for him‎. Both boys would like to continue with the swimming lessons.

Alison

Jacob loved the lesson on Saturday so we’d love to come for the rest of the term.

Can I just say, we have been to a few different swim schools with varying standards however I found Aquarius to be really well run and it was so refreshing to have a higher ratio of staff to kids who were all attentive and engaged with the kids!
